Here are orientation photos of the KOA Kampground and access road to CCAS "Star Hill" taken Oct. 2005.
The large images are 1024 x768 for ease of studying the photos.

1. Arriving at the KOA Kampground.  Santa Margarita Lake is located about another half-mile down the road beyond this point.
2. KOA Office.  Don't turn into this parking area.  Continue driving past the office and swimming pool.
3. Just past the KOA Office and swimming pool, is the turnoff into the overflow camping area.  This is where you turn in.  Star Hill is in the background, with the pickup truck sitting on top.  Beautiful rocky hills are in the far background.  Note a silver car driving up the access road to Star Hill.
4. A closer look at the access road leading to Star Hill.  The silver car is getting close to the parking area, not visible just to the right of the photo.  Please DO NOT drive or park on any mowed green lawn areas.  Be prepared to park in tall, dry, dead grass.  DO NOT drive up the narrow Star Hill road.  Only experienced astronomers having bulky scopes are allowed to drive up and park on Star Hill.
5. An even closer look at the access road around the base of Star Hill.  Star Hill is visible in the upper left.
6. Walt's truck parked at the base of Star Hill.  From here walk up the dirt road running up the hill just behind the truck.
PLEASE, NO SMOKING anywhere during our star parties due to high danger of brush fires.
7. From the top of Star Hill looking down the steep road to the parking area.
8. From the top of Star Hill looking back at the main road and the turn-off into the overflow camping area.
